Medium Scale Distributed Generation (MSDG) Scheme

To make the MSDG project feasible, a Grid Code has been drawn up to enable photovoltaic, wind, and mini-hydro technologies to be integrated into the CEB grid.

📊 Maximum Installed Capacity: 2 MW per customer

The maximum allowable installed capacity for the Medium-Scale Distributed Generation (MSDG) Feed-in Tariff project has been set at 2 MW per customer. MSDG projects are connected to the medium voltage network (22kV) and cater to renewable energy systems with capacities greater than 50 kW.

Program Status:
The CEB has announced that it will no longer accept new applications under the original MSDG scheme. However, the program has evolved with multiple phases, including the CEB MSDG Renewable Energy (RE) Scheme Phase 2, which continues to support the integration of medium-scale distributed generation projects as part of Mauritius' Renewable Energy Roadmap 2030.
